Mark Sanchez was selected in the fifth spot in the first round by the Jets. Many experts have pointed to his personality getting the nod as much as his talent on the playing field for his extraordinary selection.
Were the Jets looking to remake their image in the “Joe Namath” mold again-believing Sanchez could transcend the sport and bring people into the stadium to see their chosen QB.
What do you think-was this a good choice or a miscalculation? Was it worth it to risk so much to bring the Jets back to their 1969 greatness??
I would like to hear your thoughts.

As I write this I am headed out to the Music City Marathon in Nashville TN. I go every year to see the people come to the finish line with everyone cheering them on. It is quite inspirational-some are old, young, thin, and robust, but when they cross that finish line, you see such pride in their faces-a sense of accomplishment that elevates their soul to greater heights.
What have you done in the last few years to give you such great joy and pride?
I would love to hear from you!

Susan Boyle is still the rage of the internet. They report on her every move, even her new look:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090424/ap_en_tv/eu_britain_singing_sensation
She has been tempted by all the trappings of success-could you withstand them?
Susan now stands to make a lot of money and she seems like she is going to change from what we admired to what is commonplace-I hope that does not happen, for her sake and ours

Her father once told the young Irena, “If she saw someone drowning she should try to save them, even if she could not swim”. Irena Sendler did see a lot of people drowning of starvation and disease in the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII. Irena’s outrage for such cruelty overcame any fears of her own safety. The lessons are many from this story, but the one related to this blog is that meaningfulness of our purpose and path will overcome any fears you may have of failing or looking foolish. Meaning in your life will drive you to reach extraordinary heights. The purpose of Irena’s action led her to reach heights, which words in a blog fail to give justice.

Susan Boyle shocked the world on last week’s Britain’s got talent. The judge Piers Morgan said it was the biggest suprise he had ever gotten. The reason being is that Susan does not look like a star, not even close. But Susan did not care-she had a dream. She was willing to take all the arrows shot at her from the judges and audience. She showed her inner talent because she was willing to fail, and at the same time-she stung the world with her beautiful voice and internal beauty. We are all better for Susan.

This is Gary Player’s last Masters. The three time champ will have his last hurrah with his love affair at Augusta.
People may question-why is Gary Player such a champion-well let me tell you my Gary Player story-At the senior event in Nashville, I gave everyone my book, Mentalrules for golf, and I signed it and placed it into their locker.(My friend was running the tournament so he did me a favor). Out of the whole field, the only person to call me and thank me was Gary Player. That showed me he was a champion because he appreciated the little things in life, and his thank you showed me what true champions do- The golfing world will miss Gary Player, and I am glad and blessed to have been allowed to meet him

Did you get a chance to see Matthew McConaughey’s
presentation for entertainer of the year at the ACMAs?
He opened with a very funny story about how he and
his brother picked up some girls by saying
they had an exclusive contract to make George Strait’s new line of boots-and those ostrich feather boots were in their car-and he thanked George Strait for a great evening and George was sitting in the audience(see the clip:http://primetime.tv.yahoo.com/)
The winner-Carrie Underwood-asked if she could see those boots
-very funny-.
Telling a story as well as Matthew McConaughey did, is
very very difficult. Most of us would love to have that skill-
and the good news is that we can!
Become an actor like Matthew McConaughey. Next time you have to present or give a speech or tell a story write out a script and then memorize the script and then act the script.
You must also practice your story or speech over and over again
until it looks natural-do you think Matthew McConaughey
told that story off the cuff-not a chance-he practiced
and practiced so he looked natural doing it in front of
millions of viewers-You do the same and I guarentee that
you will look smooth- maybe not as smooth as McConaughey-
but really, who can be that smooth??

As Dolly has put it, despite all the nips and tucks, wigs and sucks, she still is as real as it gets. She looks like a woman, but as Dolly phrased it, thinks like a business man. As such, she is as successful as they come. Being so busy, she needs a break now and again. She recharges her batteries in her home in the Tennesse mountains. While she has homes in other places that are more extravagant, Dolly says this home is where she can rejuvenate her soul-it was built upon the land of her home where she grew up.
Do you have a place where you can recharge your batteries-a special place to rejuvinate your soul?
Follow Dolly’s lead- you may not need any tucks or pulls, just a hideaway from all the chaos of your life

As we come down to the home stretch in American Idol, it may not be the most talented contestant that wins but rather the one who can handle the pressure the best. Just look at last year’s winner-David Cook-he handled the pressure much better than David Archuleta, but did he have more talent?
I will let you be the judge.
